Terms of service

Plain-word rules for using this site. If a lawyer needs the long version, we'll write one — this is the one humans read.

What this site is

Consumer Rising is an independent education and awareness publication. We are not doctors, scientists, dietitians, or any kind of medical professionals. Everything here is general information for education — it is not medical advice, not a diagnosis, not treatment, and not a recommendation for your personal health. Talk to your doctor or a qualified professional about your own decisions, and never delay seeking professional advice because of something you read here. You use this site and act on what you read at your own risk. Our full disclaimer has the complete picture.

Your license to use it

You may read, share, and link to our content freely — that's what it's for. You may not republish our findings in full on another site or sell them without written permission. Short quotes with a link back are always fine.

Your content

If you send us tips, photos, or messages, you give us permission to use them in our reporting (we'll protect anonymous sources as promised). Don't send anything you don't have the right to share.

Accuracy

We work hard to get things right and we show our sources, but food science moves and we are human. If you spot an error, tell us at [email protected] — we correct publicly. We can't promise the site is error-free or always available.

Limits

To the extent the law allows, we're not liable for decisions you make based on general information here, or for interruptions to the site. Our total liability is limited to what you paid us (for free members: $0).

Links

We link to regulators, journals, and watchdogs for sourcing. We're not responsible for what those sites say or do.

Changes

We may update these terms as the site grows. Big changes get announced in the newsletter before they take effect. Continuing to use the site after changes means you accept them.

If part of this doesn't hold

If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still applies.
