Disclaimer
What Consumer Rising is, what it isn't, and where our responsibility ends and yours begins.
Who we are
Consumer Rising is an independent consumer education and awareness publication. We are not doctors. We are not scientists. We are not dietitians, pharmacists, or any kind of licensed medical professionals. We are people who read labels, studies, and regulator documents, and explain what we find in plain words.
What this site is for
Everything on this site — articles, the Ingredient Index, the label scanner, the quiz, emails — exists for general education and awareness only. It is meant to help you ask better questions, not to give you answers about your own body.
Not medical advice
Nothing here is medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, or prevention advice for any person or condition. General information about an ingredient is not a recommendation about what you should eat, avoid, take, or stop taking. Your health decisions belong to you and the qualified professionals who know your history — your doctor, your pharmacist, a registered dietitian.
Never delay seeking professional medical advice because of something you read here. If you have a health emergency, call your local emergency number — don't email us.
Your decisions are yours
If you change what you buy, eat, or feed your family based on something you read here, that is your decision and your responsibility. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for actions you take, decisions you make, or outcomes you experience based on general information on this site. You use Consumer Rising at your own risk.
We can be wrong
We cite our sources and correct our mistakes publicly, but food and health science moves, studies get challenged, and regulations change. We make no warranties — express or implied — that anything here is complete, current, or error-free. Check the sources yourself, especially before making important decisions.
Automated tools
The label scanner and quiz are automated tools. They match text against our ingredient database and can misread labels, miss ingredients, or misclassify them. Their output is a starting point for your own label reading — not a safety certification, not a medical opinion.
Links to other sites
We link to regulators, journals, and other sources so you can check our work. We don't control those sites, don't endorse everything on them, and aren't responsible for what they say or do.
